Blog Reader Participation
Ok so here is the question. What food is it that you thought you would never eat. And then you tried it and turns out you loved it. Tell me what it is, in what way was it cooked or served, if not cooked. And if you have tried it prepared in different ways. If you have read all my blogs, you know that there are two things I mentioned. Do you remember what they were? I will be blogging about a few more restaurants in the next few days. Meanwhile I would love to hear from everyone to answer the above questions.

What I tried and thought I never would.... are you ready for this?.... tongue! In fact, I once would not take a BEAUTIFUL steak from a butcher because it was next to tongue and they were touching. My husband has always told me how good it is, how tender, and what a delicacy it is where he comes from (Germany). And, well, I really trust my husband. So, I tried it. You know what, it was VERY good, tasty and quite tender. I would try it again.
ReplyDeleteDiane, the only thing I can remember you were afraid to try was fennel. Can't remember the other. But, I do know that you probably won't try grape leaves again.
Well, I tried pickled pigs feet as a kid and liked it. And if I had the opportunity might try it again. That's the strangest thing I can think of eating.
ReplyDeleteAs far as the two things you mentioned that you thought you would never try, are sushi and fennel. I got a little help from the previous blogger, couldn't remember the fennel but did remember the sushi. Tongue, well I would have to be really brave.
I cannot say that there is anything that I have said I would not try. Not in my adult life anyway. However, I have tried Foie Gras too many times to count. I have tried it cooked by "Top Chefs" and crappy chefs. This is one thing that I have not developed the palate for :( I suffer from Food envy. I don't know if anyone out there knows what I'm talking about. But, it kills me to watch people eat this and go wild and then put it in my mouth and just simply not get it. I always feel like I am missing out on something.
ReplyDeleteThe other thing I cannot stomach is OLIVES! I know right... but, it is possible, I'm living proof. This one really gets me because everywhere I go people are loving olives. I buy more than the average person as well. (What a kick in the teeth) I buy them because I entertain a lot and all the people I love are in love with olives. Here the monkey wrench...I love capers. Figure that one out... I dare you.
